Ingo Schmied

Business Consultant / Senior Software Engineer

A Passion for Building Customized Solutions…
Ingo Schmied was born in Germany, and immigrated to the United States before his first birthday. His first two languages were German and English, and all of his favorite activities revolved around building with Lego blocks, Erector Sets, and Lincoln Logs. These tendencies shifted in later years to drawing, building model cars, ships, airplanes, and even model rockets.

As the son of a marine engineer, Ingo’s passion for learning, creating, building, and repairing things was encouraged and continuously supported. Soon after Ingo stuck his first quarter into a video game version of the famous M.I.T. “Spacewar!”, his best friend received an Atari 400 home computer, and that is when Ingo learned his third language: BASIC.

Since graduating from college with a bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering and a minor in Computer Science, Ingo’s career has allowed him to work with people of many different nationalities and levels of expertise, on almost every continent, solving problems on the world’s largest ships, oil drilling platforms, container cranes, and wind turbines.

Today, Ingo hasn’t lost his passion for computer programming, and continues to learn new programming languages. He enjoys tinkering with electronics and old computers, playing music, learning and building new things, and solving problem.
